Mariachi Ausente has been breaking new grounds. Our members have played in concerts and for hundreds of people in our professional careers as musicians. Most of our events are for weddings or private celebrations. It is always exciting to work in front of cameras. We have done commercials and Buzzfeed videos, but recently we where asked to do a Promo Video for Netflix.

When Cesar Rios first received the phone call, he was unaware of what type of filming will be done. After several back and forth emails and phone calls the gig was set. Cesar forward the itinerary to the rest of the mariachi through email. It was not until the day before that one of the members realize that we will be filming for Netflix and for the hit series, Narcos.

Narcos was heading into the 4th season and was changing story line. They where in need of the mariachi. The producer explained that he looked at many mariachis and websites and saw the professionalism in our website and the prompt response.

The day of the shooting was lots of fun. We were treated as movie stars. The producer made sure we felt comfortable and asked that they wanted the promotional video to look as real as possible. They asked if we can take replicate the official music entrance on the spot. It took less than 40min to each of us take out our parts for the promotional video. The shooting was roughly 6hours but it passed by quick.

We want to thank the producers of Netflix for letting us be part of their production. We look forward to work along side Netflix in future projects. This is just a small step for us. Please take a look for yourself and let us know what you think.
